Le lac Fishabil News
The European Angling Centre (ESAC Fishery), now owned by Ian Starmer, has produced some nice fish in the first half of 2004. Up until July saw the 150th fish over 40lb landed, with most fish in their low to mid 40s.
Within the bigger fish range, 16 different specimens were landed this year with weights between 48-50lb. The biggest common so far this year is 43lb with the majority landed in their low 30s. Grass carp are coming out on a regular basis with an average size of 35 to 40lb – with 4 fish being record just under the 50lb mark.
Catch rates are varying from the angler ability but with an average of 25 fish per angler being recorded, I think you’ll agree that these are impressive figures. Best banks are east and north for the big fish with the back bay producing big numbers of carp to low 30s and cats to 40lb with anglers having multiple takes of up to four fish on at once.
85% of anglers coming to the (ESAC Fishery) for the first time all do their PB’S, the last four anglers that visited us were no exception. James Crawford from Begbrooke Oxfordshire visited The European Angling Centre (ESAC fishery) for the first time with his friends in July and landed the 150th fish over 40 lb this year, banking a mirror of 46.12oz and a grass carp of 48.12oz. Fellow anglers Martin Perryment also landed his biggest ever carp of 35lb and Ben Hewer banking carp to low thirties plus three catfish of which the biggest was 48lb. The catfish are very active at present with every angler visiting experiencing cat takes on Boilies. There have been 23 cats landed so far this year over 75lb, with the biggest landed of 90lb. Angler’s fishing for cats with livebaits are experiencing problems with zander takes at night with one week seeing over 30 zander being landed over 8lb with the biggest around 18lb. Cat takes are plentiful in the day on livebaits but producing smaller fish under 40lb with the larger fish tending to come out during the night.
