Oakside 17/6/01
The 4th round of the league was fished at Oakside with 24 anglerstaking part. With a stiff north-westerly breeze blowing down the lakeit didn’t feel like the middle of June but us “”Cornish”” lads are usedto that. The fish, however, where less than impressed and decided notto play and most anglers struggled.
Overall winner on the day was Simon Final (OB Joyful) notching uphis first win in this league. Drawn on peg 37, Simon used the pole at6m with corn over meat to take a dozen good skimmers plus roach for17lb 8oz and a clear win. Well done lad!
Second placed Mal King (Milo) opted for the feeder from peg 15taking mainly skimmers totalling 10lb 8oz.
In third place Phil Watters (Gwinear) fished the pole at 7m. withred maggot over groundbait from peg 31 taking one proper bream plusroach for 9lb dead.
4th place and B-section winner by default was Matthew Wilson(Phoenix) with 6lb 8oz from end peg 40.
5th place and A-section winner by default was Simon Poynter with6lb 1oz
6th place went to Mike Yates with 5lb 10oz (a bit of a come-downfrom Ireland)
Simon Poynter on peg 13 was given the honour of drawing the ballfor the golden peg and pulled out no.12 (unlucky Simon) £ 10 forBob Noble but could have been £ 86.
The next round will be at Lakeview where Pete Walker has alreadyreserved peg 4 facing the island. No doubt he has also decided how tospend his winnings!
