After a long battle with cancer Don passed away peacefully in hissleep on Friday 27th July.

Leaving his wife Jean, daughters Julie and Brenda and 5grandchildren, Don will be well remembered not only by the members ofthe Threemilestone Angling Club, where his efforts over the years area living legacy, of such a fantastic venue, but the whole coarsefishing fraternity of Cornwall.

Never one to shy away from conflict you knew where you stood withsuch an honest man. His love for his family and his fishing were wornon his sleeve. His passion for both knew no bounds. He would spendmany an hour in his shed making this or that, but only after makingsure his Jean didn’t need him for anything else.

It was in that shed in the mid-90’s that Don made his first batchof “Pellet Paste” and took the match scene apart with his new learntskill. He got so good that certain venues banned the Pellet andPaste, a decision that caused Don some grief for years. But never oneto be found wanting Don could turn his hand to any type of anglingand was soon back to his winning ways.

Before his death Don told Jean that some of his happiest years infishing were spent as the Captain of the Threemilestone Toads MatchTeam. Don led his team with the pride and passion he learnt in hisArmy years. Winning the Cornwall Winter League in the teams firstyear was a real joy for Don. In subsequent years they came 3rd and inthis last year they managed to win again, with Don still at the helm, putting in all the effort and practice, despite his ill health. Butthis was Don, determined to the end.

Those who knew Don will always remember a warm, charming, honestman who didn’t ask for much, but gave plenty.
