FAT CONTROLLERS AND FLOATING ARTIFICIAL DOG MIXERBISCUIT
Anglers who regularly floater fish for carp will be well awarethat if you could only tempt the carp to accept surface hookbaits asreadily as they accept the freebies we toss to them we would bagup.

But the reality is that floater fishing makes you all too awarethat carp, if not clever in the intellectual sense, are certainlywell educated when it comes to distinguishing surface freebies fromsurface hookbait.
Two things give the game away. The obvious one is the hookbait, inthat it is very difficult to make it behave as naturally as thefree-floating stuff. The carp are very adept at testing the hookbaitto see how it behaves. They suck and blow at it, wave their tails atit, and then sit back and watch to see if it moves in the same way asthe free stuff.

The other thing is the controller. Whenever possible it is best tofish free-line, ie, with no weight or anything on the line other thanthe baited hook. But, most times, we have to fish at distances thatdemand some kind of casting weight, and that’s where a controllercomes into play. And the problem is that carp that have been caughtquite often at the surface are pretty good at recognising controllerstoo. Or at least realising that certain floating food items appear toalways be accompanied by some other floating item not too far away, and that those food items are the ones to avoid.

So what’s the answer? Well, a review isn’t the place to go intoany great detail about that, but let’s just say that using a hookbaitthat looks like the real thing, but floats with the buoyancy of afreebie, goes a long way. And that a controller that looks like alump of wood from below can only help too. These two new productsfrom Partridge are in that league.
FAT CONTROLLERS
Dynamically shaped and weighted to allow just the small sight bobto show at the surface. The under-body has a natural, old wood-likefinish that helps it avoid spooking fish. Both the top and bottom ofthe Fat Controller is threaded to allow quick changes from one sizecontroller to another, or to change the line ring to top or bottomdepending how you prefer to present it.
Fat Controllers come in three sizes, 20, 30 and 40g.

You can fish them on their own or along with a real one or two.
Four sizes of biscuit are included in each pack of eightbiscuits.
They cost £ 1.99 a pack.
