Spectacle wearers like myself have always had the dirty end of the stick when it comes to polarised glasses. We’ve had two options, to use clip-ons, or to pay through the nose for prescription glasses with polarised lenses. Clip-ons have two problems, they can scratch the lenses of your ordinary glasses, and they just do not perform as efficiently as a true polarised lens. And for some reason they never feel comfortable. If you have only ever worn clip-on polarised glasses then you just don’t know what you’re missing. The first time you don a pair of prescription polarised glasses and cast your eyes across the water you’ll feel like a born again religious nut who has just seen the light. And you can toss the headache tablets away, for that harmful glare will have disappeared. SECOND PAIR It’s over two years since I had my first pair of prescription polarised spectacles from Optilabs, and now, with a change in prescription I’ve recently received my second pair. This time I opted for the ‘Blackbird’ frame, which are designed especially for outdoor sportsmen and are most suitable for anglers. Made by French company Loubsol, the frames are comfortable and give maximum protection against harmful rays. | |||||
OPTILABS HIGH SPECIFICATION POLARISED LENSES Conventional sunglasses use dark/smoked lenses – which of course makes everything darker. On a dull day they are no help to the sportsperson – in fact they can be dangerous, obscuring details which are in shade. Optilabs specialist range of sunglasses overcome these problems by using high contrast polarised lenses. These work in a much more efficient way than conventional dark/smoked lenses by passing light through a polarising filter, and giving it a high contrast tint. This means the lenses do not need to be as dark as conventional sunglasses. ABOUT OPTILABS Optilabs are based in Croydon and have over 20 years experience in manufacturing and retail and are one of the UK’s leading independent lens and frame specialists. They have a unique showroom and factory site and welcome visitors to view their extensive collection of frames and seek professional advice on any aspect of buying glasses. In the factory they manufacture their own lenses to the highest specifications – each lens being carefully crafted to customer’s individual prescriptions. This also enables them to offer customers up to 50% savings on high street prices. The procedure is simple. You send a copy of your prescription and your PD measurement (that’s the distance between your eyes) to Optilabs. The PD measurement is on your records where you had your eys tested and should be supplied, on request, along with your prescription. My glasses came through the letterbox within two days of me supplying these details. Best of all, the glasses come at a price that puts prescription polarising glasses within reach of most anglers. Very highly recommended. Optilabs Ltd Telephone +44 (0)20 8686 5708 Website www.optilabs.com |
