FM Forum regular Rich Drayson closed his river season on the Hampshire Avon and was rewarded with a personal best chub of 6lb 4oz. Rich had just two bites all day, the first one he connected with, but the hooklength parted shortly after hooking the fish, due to a suspected wind knot. The second bite followed soon afterwards and resulted in the PB chub. “What really surprised me about the chub was it’s thick, broad shoulders, it was a really thick-set fish.” Rich said. The tackle he used was a 14ft float rod, a Speedia centrepin reel, 3.2lb Drennan Floatfish line, and a size 14 Drennan Carbon Specimen hook. |
