Last year we fished the northern and midland’s legs but failed to raise a team for the remaining legs of the match. It was a little off-putting being matched against regular and skilled match anglers from match fishing based websites. Personally that didn’t bother me as we had nothing to prove and everything to gain. Judging by last year’s response I dare say there is little hope of raising the teams we need to fish each leg, but nevertheless, below, Dave Webster of maggotdrowning.com, who did an excellent job of organising the event last year, provides all the details:

Dave Writes:
So far there’s been a tremendous amount of interest regarding another Intersite Challenge for this year and as some of you will be aware we have been sorting out venues and dates for 2004.

All together we’re going for 4 venues and this time trying not to cause too much confusion we have one for each of the North, South, East and West.

They are:

West Venue – Kennet & Avon Canal, Devizes, April 25th (Booked)

Southern Venue – Hartleylands Farm, Kent, on 8th May 2004 (Booked)

East Venue – Barford Lakes Fishery,(Railway & Willow Lakes), nr Norwich, July 31st (Booked)

Northern Venue – Poppleton Lakes, York, 14th August 2004 (Booked)

All are capable of accommodating 50 anglers and the Challenge is thrown open to all websites if they can raise the teams.

Team member/numbers will depend on the number of websites competing, initial predictions look to be either 8 or 10 per team.

In addition to the above but on an individual basis, there will also be a final match for those taking part and/or those who missed out in the team selections, this is the –

Intersite Individual Championships – Barston Lake, Solihull, West Midlands, 18th September (Booked)

The Intersite Individual Championship is a total of 100 pegs and is not a team event.

The rules and scoring will be similar to last year’s for the four legs:

Here goes:

– 50 Pegs consisting of sections with 5/6 pegs in each depending on number of teams taking part.

– The Captains then take an envelope containing Section letters and draw numbers (ie A1, B1, C1, D1, E1, F1, G1, H1, etc) for their team to draw from to determine each member’s section.

(ie MD’s Captain draws envelope containing number 1’s ; all MD’s team members then fish peg number 1 in each section)

– Captains have a sheet (provided) with member’s names on to record section per member and return before the start of the match.

– Points: 5 points for each section winner,
4 points for each section 2nd
3 points for each section 3rd
2 points for each section 4th
1 point for each section 5th
0 points for not weighing in

The points will carry over the series and the winning team is the one with most points overall. In the event of a tie then the accumulated highest section wins of the tied will decide winning team.

Individual Optional Pools (per Leg)

Individual Optional Pools to be taken at the start before the draws, (Suggested £ 5.00) and to pay out for the top 5 places per leg.

The pay out will be based on overall weight of those entering the pools and will be based roughly on the following:

1st – approx 5/15th’s of pot
2nd – approx 4/15th’s of pot
3rd – approx 3/15ths of pot
4th – approx 2/15th’s of pot
5th – approx 1/15th of pot

Rounded up or down (eg. If 40 enter the optional pools then 1st=£ 70.00, 2nd=£ 55.00, 3rd=£ 40.00, 4th=£ 25.00, 5th=£ 10.00)

The Intersite Individual Championship

This will be thrown open to all members of the participating sites on a first come basis (names will be taken nearer the time) and further details of this will be announced then.

As before there is No financial obligation on behalf of the website owners, administrators or moderators and any individual wishing to compete will be asked to forward their peg fee to me prior to each match.

Please can you let me know if you wish to enter teams to represent your websites before Saturday 17th January 2004 and then we’ll get the ball rolling.

All the best,

Dave Webster
