Butt section, middle and 3 quivertip tops of varying flexibility Primary Use: Light to Medium Feeder Fishing Price: £ 179.00 Most feeder rods come with interchangeable quivertips, but this one from the Preston Innovations Carbonactive range has a range of three separate quivertip tops of varying flexibility. At the price it almost goes without saying that the Fuji reel fitting and SIC rings are top class and the quality of the blank material from carbon specialists Asaki is second to none. The butt is almost all top quality cork except for the couple of inches above the reel fitting (which is part of this type of reel fitting where you use the black hyperlon to screw down the top clasp). Anyone who has bit the bullet and tried to bend Carbonactive rods (not the quivertips!) beyond a believable bend will appreciate the strength of this material. It makes the accepted test curve rating we use to classify the power of rods into something of a farce because the tolerance of this material is so great. The rod has become a firm favourite with bream anglers but to think that’s all the rod is fit for would be a mistake. It’s suitable for lines of 2lb to 5lb (although with this Carbonactive material I think you could safely stretch it a little beyond that). I use it for chub fishing with a 6lb line and find it ideal for throwing a loaded feeder of 2 – 3oz and playing chub over 5lb. The rod is suitable for any species providing you use it with a suitable line. | ||||||
