SIMPLE LINK LEGER

A link leger is simply a leger set-up that uses a link between the running swivel or run ring and the leger weight or swimfeeder, rather than having the weight or feeder running directly on the line. The length of the link can vary but is usually between 3 and 6ins. The actual link in this instance is the stem on the feeder.

Although I’ve called this a simple link leger, the one in the picture isn’t as simple as a link leger can be. The one pictured is okay for feeder fishing where the tubing helps to prevent tangles, but substitute the feeder for a bomb and it isn’t necessary. If you use a link swivel at the end of the link you can easily swap from bomb to feeder and back again as the occasion demands.

You can also quite easily use a plain swivel instead of the run-ring, or a loop of line folded over the main line and one or two SSG shot pinched on it. Any of these combinations make a link leger of one sort or another.

About the Rigs Page

The Rigs Page is a library of features to illustrate all those rigs that will be useful to both beginners and experienced anglers.

The rigs can be extremely simple and well known, or very complicated and little known, it doesn’t matter providing they make some kind of sense and have a really practical application.

It could be a standard running leger rig that a beginner will appreciate seeing in pictures, or a very complicated anti-eject carp rig that the experienced carp angler would like to see.

If you wish to contribute a rig to this section please remember that the emphasis is on illustration rather than words. Good line drawings are fine in the absence of photographs. Please send to graham@fishingmagic.com
