Quite why they should be called carp boots is beyond me, a bit like the bivvy hammers you can buy, as though you can knock only bivvy pegs in with them. I can understand rods being carp rods, but not boots being carp boots. Will they be uncomfortable if I wear then while chub fishing on the river? They’re boots, they’re not lunker boots or carp boots, but boots. And you can wear them in bed if that’s what turns you on.

Come to think of it, maybe that’s why they’re called carp boots, in that some carp anglers sleep a lot and wear their boots in bed (bag) while dreaming about a lunker with blonde hair and ……..

We’ll leave that alone for now, but you get my meaning I’m sure.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

They’re warm, cosy and comfortable, easy to get your feet in and out of and, unlike a lot of thermal boots, easy to walk in.

But they’re not waterproof. As the tech spec says, they’ll repel water, meaning that you’re not going to get your feet wet when you walk in wet grass, but they are not meant for paddling in.

I suggest that you buy them at least one size bigger than your normal shoe size, maybe even two sizes bigger if you intend wearing them with thick socks. Try them on before you buy and then you’ll know for sure what size is best for you.

They’re a good boot for comfort and warmth and for walking a mile or so. Any further and you’d be better with a more expensive but pukka walking boot.
