HARDWICK LAKE
Seventeen year old Luke Burdett from Leicestershire could never have dreamed how his first days work experience with Linear would start. Luke who is a student at Brooksbey College studying fishery management arrived this morning and opted to bivvy up on Hardwick where he would spend his nights fishing in between working on swims and planting with Linears Fishery Officer Chris Blunt. Chris told him to get settled in on Hardwick and to enjoy a spot of fishing before he would be back later to collect him for work. Within 30 minutes young Luke had landed a 41.14 mirror carp from the margins. Having set his bivvy up Luke had spotted a group of carp moving into the margins. Casting a single grain of sweetcorn on a number 6 Drennan Continental Hook tied to 8lb line and with a small running lead, he was amazed when the bait was taken almost immediately. The amazement led to shock when the fish was on the bank and tipped the scales at 41.14. A new Hardwick Lake record and a new PB for Luke beating his previous which was 16lb. Although Luke is in pieces at the moment Chris has threatened to work him really hard when he comes to his senses.
