Record Roach Captured

BRITAIN’S ROACH RECORD has been broken with a stunning 4lb 4oz specimen.

The fish, which tops Ray Clarke’s previous best by just 1oz, was caught last week in one of the greatest angling stories ever told.

The pictures of the incredible redfin have been checked by the EA’s top fisheries biologist and he is 100% certain it is an authentic roach.

Ray Clarke’s 4lb 3oz record roach has stood since 1990.

For exclusive pictures and the full story of the most important fish for more than a decade, see tomorrow’s Angling Times.

UPDATE, Tuesday

The fish was caught by Keith Berry from a stillwater in Northern Ireland. Keith used swingtip and maggot feeder, with double maggot hookbait.

Keith was specifically fishing for roach when he caught the fish, and the photograph certainly suggests it is a true specimen of the species.
