Anglers Descend On The Banffshire Coast For The Catch of The Day

Next week (11th February) sees the start of the ever popular salmon fishing season on the River Deveron. Anglers from all over the world will visit the picturesque Banffshire Coast to fish on the river and catch their first spring salmon of the season.

Salmon fishing season in Scotland starts in early February until late October but coarse fishing and sea fishing are permitted all year round. The Banffshire Coast is a haven for fishing with good freshwater fishing in the lower beats of the river Deveron for brown trout, sea trout and salmon plus excellent sea fishing either from the shore or by boat for many varieties such as mackerel, pollock and wrasse.

The river Deveron is one of the top five British salmon rivers and it boasts a catchment area of 1260km
