East Haugh House awarded Sports Hotel of the year again!

Perthshire’s four star East Haugh House has again been awarded Scottish Country Sports Hotel at the 2007 Scottish Hotel of the year awards. Having won in 2005, East Haugh House reclaimed their title at the glittering awards ceremony held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Sunday 25 February 2007.

East Haugh House Manager Sophie McGown says, “We are ecstatic to have received the award again. It is a real accolade to the passion that we all have at East Haugh House for country sports.”

In addition to the 24 000 public votes, making the 2007 awards the biggest ever consumer hotel poll in the UK, there were 23 judges including “The Woman Who Ate Scotland”, Nell Nelson.

The award recognised owners Lesley and Neil McGown’s vast experience and dedication to country sports including fishing, hunting, shooting and deer stalking. Priding themselves on providing each guest with a unique experience customised to their individual requirements, East Haugh House organises hunting, fishing, deer stalking, golfing, clay shooting, pony trekking and quad biking packages as per request.

The McGowns’ experience and passion for country sports is evident by the attention to the finest detail. All sportsmen’s needs are considered with the hotel providing early breakfasts, packed lunches, drying and larder facilities. Guests can even have their catch cooked to their liking in the hotels award winning restaurant, “Two Sisters”.

Situated in the heart of the Tayside, the hotel has 13 individually decorated bedrooms each with their own theme and unique touches. Three of the rooms are complete with four poster beds with one having an open fireplace with a private Jacuzzi spa. All rooms are complete with flat screen televisions and iPod docking stations are to be introduced in the near future.

Situated a few yards from the Tummel & only a few miles from the Tay, East Haugh is the ideal base for a fishing holiday.

As well as excellent salmon, wild brown trout fishing is available on the river and on beautiful hill lochs in the area.
