Six 30’s from Temple and two from Old Lake

Well – what a week that was! Exceptional weather has brought about exceptional fishing on both Temple and the Old Lake this week with Temple producing yet another thirty, the 6th in just over a week whilst the Old Lake has also kicked in producing two thirties in the last two days along with bucketloads of twenties.

Temple Lake
Alan Stagg fished Temple last Thursday night bagging ‘Lyn’ the Linear at 30lb 4oz. This stunning fish, which is one of the prettiest fish in Temple, was stocked from the King George at 34lb 3oz in 2004, she came out in March 2005 at 31lb before plummeting to under 25lb looking, well, pretty sad. However, she was picked up in the netting in February this year at 27lb looking very fit and healthy and has now topped thirty again and looking absolutely stunning, so it looks like she is on her way back to full health.

Alan fished peg 12 and offered a Perfection Groundbait Meat and Worm boilie over 20 free offerings and a couple of handfuls of pellet just short of the island.

Hooked at just after 6am, she fought hard and was returned fighting fit. Alan used a 15lb Suffix duo core, 3oz lead, 15lb Suffix black silt and a size 8 Gardner Mugga hook.

Other anglers to catch over the last few days were young Ed Mason who bagged mirrors weighing 26lb 2oz and 23lb 4oz and Hugh Mann who caught a 27lb 3oz common.

Old Lake
Turning to the Old Lake, young Ed witnessed a 30lb mirror from peg 45 on Wednesday evening but forgot to get the details which have been promised, so hopefully more info on this soon.

However, the big catch of the week went to Robert Navera who caught 15 carp in one session topped by a 32lb mirror and three twenties, two mirrors weighing 24lb 10oz, 22lb 14oz and a common weighing 21lb 1oz.

Robert fished peg 2 and caught all his fish on homemade boilies fished over hemp and pellet fished at mid water.

Other anglers to bag on the Old Lake in the last few days were Terry Cutting who caught 4 fish topped by a 26lb 4oz mirror and David Weston who managed 10 fish, the best a 22lb 8oz mirror.
