Liverpool’s Andy Molyneux – third at Banagher

River Shannon at Banagher & Portumna

TONS of Shannon roach, hybrids and bream, were itching to join the action but four nights of frost took its toll.

Daiwa Team Dons matchman Andy Landells had the answer and with four days from five to count, romped into first place with 4 points – from three section wins and a second place – to pocket £ 1200.

Andy tackled Ireland’s longest river with an 11 metre pole to hand in and caught roach to more than 1lb and some large hybrids, but got his heaviest single catch of 23-800 kilos (52lb 6oz) on a groundbait feeder with worm and maggot.

The Doncaster man had a total of 72-470 (159lb 7oz) across the four days fishing at Meelick, the Salmon Run and Portumna Town.

Others: Dave Bell (Doncaster Middy) 7pts 43-690 kilos; Andy Molyneux (Liverpool AS) 7pts 43-000 kilos; Paul Caygill (Hull & District) 9pts 47.550 kilos; Ken Dooley (Liverpool AS) 10pts 50-060kilos; Mike Fordham (Browning) 10pts 46-100 kilos.
