Ness lands Big LynThe carp fishing on both the Old Lake and Temple Lake has burst into life this week with 6 thirties reported along with good numbers of twenties and zillions of doubles. With the Old Lake producing hundreds of fish currently, Chris Porter led the field with a cracking 33lb 8oz mirror. Fishing peg 66 behind the island, Chris fished a Carp Company 18mm Icelandic Red boilie over pellet and loose offerings towards the island landing his new PB after an intense fight. With multi bags of up to 25 fish being reported almost daily, another angler to just miss out on a thirty was Bradley Shackleton who caught a mint 27lb 8oz common as part of a 10 fish haul. Bradley fished peg 67 and caught on Fusion boilies fished over Fusion pellet. On Temple Lake it was Ernie Holdaway who led the field catching a stunning a brace of commons weighing 35lb 3oz and 28lb 8oz despite heavy spawning activity. Fishing what is now the famed swim 12 on the back bank, Ernie fished a Tutti Frutti boilie and pva bag on each rod catching from both the left and right hand set of pads. Both fish came during the day and Ernie also lost a big fish following a strong run. Another angler to catch was Vanessa (Ness) Davidson who showed hubby Colin Davidson that she was not there just to cook the breakfast! Fishing swim 2, Vanessa fished a Baitworks Atlantic Heat boilie over a handful of pellets out to the island margins catching Temple ‘Big Lyn’ at an impressive 33lb 3oz, which is at a new record weight. This was Vanessa’s second Temple thirty having previously caught the Ghost at 33lb two years ago and fourth Temple fish in four sessions this year. Bagging his second Temple thirty of the year regular Stuart Mountjoy was another angler to bag a thirty this week, a 31lb 9oz common which came as part of a three fish haul which also included a 28lb 2oz common and 26lb 6oz mirror. Fishing swim 12, Stuart fished his favoured popped up corn over hemp to the island margins. Adding his name to the Temple list of thirties for the first time was Rob Wild who caught a lovely 30lb 4oz mirror. Fishing a short 24 hour session, Rob fished a Fusion boilie to the margins from swim 2. Bringing up the rear and with two Temple thirties already under his belt this year, Andy Brookes made it three following the capture of a 30lb 3oz mirror. Fishing swim 5 along the road bank, Andy, a Temple regular fished a Richworth Ultra-Plex boilie to the island margins. |
