According to Tackle and Guns trade magazine wholesaler and distributor Bob Church and Co has decided to cease trading after 38 years and is currently selling what remains of its stock. Bob, based in Northampton and best known as a stillwater fly fisherman, said:
“I must say that it is a bit sad after being in business so long, but the good news is that nobody is getting hurt by this. It is well known that we received financial backing from an investor and he has looked at the business and decided that it’s time to wind it down. Nobody is getting stung here and we certainly don’t owe any money. I remember some wonderful times. But the market has changed a lot over the years and I see no point in continuing.”
Another sad loss is South Yorkshire’s Britannia Angling Products. Owned by Dick Clegg, OBE, MBE and wife Nan, they have gone into voluntary liquidation after 20 years in business.
