DCP are very proud to announce our association and sponsorship of the 2009 National Championship for Anglers with Disabilities, held on Saturday 27th June 2009 at: Woodlands View Fishery, Droitwich, Worcestershire WR9 0AU.
It was the highlight of the Angling calendar for anglers with disabilities, although the competition was light hearted and friendly with a “buzz of anticipation” the fishing was very competitive. There were some of the England team fishing at the event which made it all the more exciting.
This was not for big corporate brownie point event, but for people who have a greater challenge than able body people daily.
The Angling Trust has been crying out for a sponsor for this event for many years. In general the companies that sponsor sporting events unusually go for the able body events because they have high profile and greater visibility. Alternatively they have a vested interest because of direct business sales.
DCP owner and Managing Director is a keen angler who felt that anglers with disabilities needed some help and support. So we have signed up to support this event for the next 3 years. The day was a great success and a powerful display of skill was seen that over 5 hours of fishing there the winner of the individual competition had over 32kgs of fish court. The winning team court a combined 130kgs of fish. All the fish were put back alive and health afterwards.
