The Fly Fishing event was held at Whinney Loch in the Scottish Borders and saw fourteen ladies, including eight new novice anglers join the Club for a day of fishing, fly tying and fun. Casting instruction was led by Angling Coach, Alan Young from Hardy & Greys Ltd and fly tying was demonstrated by England International angler, Scott Nellins. Many novice angler caught their first fish and 9-year-old Ruby Warfe landed a 5lb beauty on a pink bloodworm.
First time angler, Rosie Worrall said; “I’ve only tried fly fishing a few times before with my Dad but it’s never been anything like the ladies event. The girls are so supportive and the day was very well organised. The homemade beef stew and cake were delicious and the fishery and its surroundings were rated as some of the best I have ever been in. All round an excellent day – I’ve just filled out my application form to join the Club as a member!”
Club Founder and Chairman Lucy Bowden said; “A fantastic day was had by all and a great big thank you goes to the Club – primarily the committee including Rebecca, Jenny, Sue, Carmelle, Ann and Chris – your support is invaluable. I would also like to thank Alan Young for such great coaching and Scott Nellins – the ladies are all now addicted to fly tying!”
The film, which is due to be aired later in the month on Sky Sports Tight Lines programme will feature the events at Whinney Loch, including interviews with Lucy and the girls. Check back at www.fishingforeveryone.com for more information.
