Local people have the chance to get hooked on fishing on Saturday 25 June at Mouldon Hill fishery in Swindon. The day of activities is jointly hosted by the Environment Agency, Moulden Hill Angling Club and Swindon Borough Council and will give the whole family the chance to learn and improve their fishing skills and find out about the “golden rules” for responsible anglers.

Participants will be taught all about angling with one-to-one tuition with a friendly qualified angling coach – from choosing bait to reeling in all sorts of fish, including roach, bream and perch. The day is ideal for both complete beginners or for those that already know a thing or two about fishing. Equipment, rod licences and bait will all be provided on the day.

The event runs from 9.30am – 4.30pm and is totally free, all you need to do is turn up and have a go!

Tom Sherwood, a fisheries officer at the Environment Agency said:

“By giving people a chance to become involved in angling we are providing the opportunity to get closer to nature. Angling can be a hobby for life, which can be enjoyed for half-an-hour at a time or a full day and is just plain good fun and it’s all free.”
