“It has come to my notice that we have a manufacturing issue with the first batch of Titan Brolly All Seasons sent out to our customers just before Christmas. This came to light after a customer rang us to say that the pegging points seemed to be too high to peg down properly, and that he was struggling to retain a grip in sandy soil.
Immediately, I checked some of our stock and found that the pegging points were, in fact, higher off the ground than they should be. This puts undue pressure on the pegs, and affects their potential to grip in soft terrain. After checking all dimensions, we have now identified the problem. This is due to the front ribs being over length.
While I am sure that this may not seem to be a problem for some of our customers, especially those fishing sticky, clay ground, it concerns me that these Titans do not follow my design benchmarks exactly, and therefore, are not 100% perfect.
Here at Nash, we pride ourselves on ensuring the highest standards of quality and therefore, I am asking anyone who has purchased a Titan Brolly AS to contact us. Our manufacturer has worked with us to solve this issue in the shortest possible time, and I am pleased to announce that we will receive replacement front ribs approximately week two or week three of February.
Replacing the front ribs is a relatively easy operation to carry out. Simply take the bolts out of the block, lift the old ribs off and slide out of the cover, before fitting the new ribs in place and bolting down the block. However, I wish to make it clear that in no way are we attempting to renege on our responsibilities. The options for our customers who have purchased a Titan Brolly AS are as follows:
1. You may return it to your shop for a full credit as we cannot replace it at this time.
2. You may be happy to keep your Titan Brolly AS, and when we receive the replacement ribs, you may request that we send you a set for you to fit yourself.
3. You may be happy to keep your Titan Brolly AS until we receive replacement ribs, at which time you may prefer us to collect the Titan, replace the ribs, and send it back to you.
Note: This issue of peg height is marginal. We have had several anglers contact us saying that they haven’t got a problem and wish to keep their Titans. It really is about how soft the ground is, how tight you want your cover and the amount of grip your pegs can provide. Should you wish to keep your Titan for the time being, but are concerned that your pegs will grip, tying an extension to the pegging point such as a piece of cord or elastic will resolve your issue in the short term.
