The project involves teams of young people aged between 12-16 who will compete in teams to try and catch 20 different species of fish from 12 different venues in Rother, East Sussex.
The teams have six weeks to attempt to carry out the task and each team will need to photograph the different species of fish and prove where they were caught; with all fisheries required to be within the Rother District Council local authority area and the winning team will receive a Golden Maggot trophy for each participant.
One of the aims of the project is to promote and engage young people from across the area to take part in sport and physical activity in the great outdoors, stimulating good health and well being and encouraging positive competition in a safe and enjoyable environment. 36 young people are required, on a first come first served basis, to make up the three teams.
The Golden Maggot Project has been granted the Inspire Mark by the London 2012 Inspire Programme, which recognises innovative and exceptional projects that are directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The project is inspired by the whole ethos of the games and the competition and is all about teamwork and helping and supporting one another towards the ultimate goal of winning an event and succeeding.
