The Angling Trust report that:
The club had eighty participants taking part this year including three children who fished under the guidance of Angling Trust Angling Coaches. Also a large army of volunteers worked tirelessly to help the day run smoothly and everyone was able to enjoy a hog roast at the clubhouse prior to prize giving and raffle which was carried out by special guest, Martin Salter from the Angling Trust.
The lakes fished fairly well and top weight was Neil Buckley with mainly carp from Stait Lake in an 83lb 14oz total followed by Anthony Kent with 32lb 12oz of bream from Ham Pool.
Organiser Craig Hunt said:
“Despite the recent weather, it was great that so many were able to attend, and with the help of South Cerney Angling Club, Martin Salter, the coaches that guided the children and the large army of helpers, the day was enjoyed by all. These people deserve great credit for their hard work throughout the day.
I’d also like to say a big thank you to all those that helped support the day who include, Howdens Joinery, Hinders of Swindon, D&J Sports, Dynamite Baits, Richworth, Masterline, and many others that are listed on our website, Your support has given eighty disabled anglers a great day out”
Martin Salter, Angling Trust National Campaigns Coordinator added:
“The South Cerney Disabled Angling Festival is one of those long running events that shows our sport at its very best. It is a real privilege to meet so many committed anglers who have overcome adversity to participate to such a high standard. The Angling Trust is proud to support such a great initiative and we hope that it will go from strength to strength.”
