Our sister site Fish Active reports that Rother District Council have agreed to fund the Bexhill Sea Angling Festival for another year, although funding has been cut from last year’s £20,000 to just £10,000 meaning that finding additional external sponsorship for the event will be vital to ensure it is as much of a success as the inaugural event earlier this year.
The change of heart by Rother DC follows outcry from both anglers and local businesses after the 2012 event was hailed an outstanding success, attracting some 10,000 visitors on the first day, including large numbers of non-anglers and family groups, before adverse weather set in to curtail activities – and visitors – on the second day.
