Dilip Sarkar, the Fisheries Enforcement officer of the Angling Trust writes:
“Today, law enforcement is driven by intelligence – meaning that incidents and information reported are recorded and analysed to enable effective deployment of limited resources.
Therefore anglers need as many eyes and ears out on the banks, all aware of how the system works, and helping to protect our fish and fisheries. One way of doing this, if you are a fishery owner or controller of fishing rights, is to set up a ‘Water Watch’.
This is all about briefing and liaising with the right people, so that everyone knows what the potential problems are and exactly who to contact in the event of an incident.”
