Chris Yates is an angler and writer of renown. His fishing books have always celebrated the natural world in which he lives and in 2012 he added a nature book ‘Nightwalk’, to his already impressive portfolio. That book was a huge success with his fan base and he discovered a growing readership of nature lovers, many of whom had not previously read his angling books.
His latest book, ‘The Lost Diary’ was indeed, just that; lost, then found. Written in 1981, it was accidentally packed away with his Christmas decorations and he promised an old friend that should he ever find that diary, they could publish it – and he was true to his word.
Published by Unbound in 2013, ‘The Lost Diary’ is an account of his fishing on Redmire Pool from April to September 1981. A trade edition has recently been released with a variant binding. With a sub-title of ‘A summer fishing in pursuit of golden scales’ this brightly-bound book is on now on sale at River Reads, and they are currently taking orders for copies signed by Chris who will be at the shop in Torrington, Devon on Saturday 17 May, 2014.
As with previous signings the shop will be raising money for Angling Heritage (of which Chris is a Trustee) and this year, the Angling Trust will also receive £1 for each signature. In addition, Stephen Harper of Harper Fine Angling Books has donated a signed limited edition print: ‘The Monster Pike’, which will be raffled to raise money for Angling Heritage and tickets at £1 each may be purchased through River Reads or on the day of the book signing.
