People of all ages and ability are welcome to attend the free event to try their hand at pond dipping, casting, fly fishing and coarse fishing; drawing on the experience of qualified coaches. Activities will be on offer from 10am to 4pm.
Will Barnard, Thames Water’s angling development coordinator, said:
“Previous events have been so popular we’re doing it all over again. It’s a fantastic opportunity for people to come down and see how fishing at Walthamstow Reservoir is managed and have a go for themselves.
The event is free and we’re looking forward to welcoming not just experienced anglers, but those wanting to get started in fishing and families looking for new, fun activities.”
Walthamstow Reservoir supplies drinking water to millions of Londoners and is also home to a wildlife reserve and angling centre. In August it was announced that the site will receive a make-over to transform it into the largest urban wetland reserve in the city thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
