There are no hard and fast rules, only that your article needs to be a minimum 1,000 words and entertaining. It could be:
An account of a surprise or particularly tricky capture.
The story of a ‘meticulously’ planned trip that went disastrously wrong.
Something biographical.
A strong angling-related political opinion.
‘The Trouble with Animals’
Wildlife sightings when fishing.
Aggro on the riverbank.
A night-fishing mystery
Fishing abroad
Pure fiction.
Anything of interest!
If you’ve never tried your hand at constructing a story, now might be the time to give it a bash. Immaculate grammar is not essential; nor are photographs – though it can help with certain kinds of article. Between us we have tens of thousands of years of experience so there really MUST be some hilarious, intriguing, exciting, tragic, mysterious or just plain interesting stories out there. Remember, there are prizes to be won: accommodation and a day’s barbel fishing on the Wye with former guide, Graham Elliott; a Wychwood carp rod and reel combo and, compliments of Rapala, a selection box of 21 superb lures. Any one of these is really worth going for, so DO reach back into those memory cells and re-live one or more of your red letter days.
