Monster pike found in Scottish water.
A pike estimated to weigh in excess of 40lb has been found on the banks of a channel connecting Loughs Heron and Ronald in Newton Stewart, West Galloway. The decaying remains weighed 38lb but locals reckon the huge pike would have weighed well over 40lb when alive.
Environment Agency to issue free licences
The EA is to issue free one-day licences to help beginners take up fishing. The licences will be distributed next week with the agency’s new magazine ‘Reel Life’ to all 1999 licence holders.
Tony Miles says ‘Keep the closed season on rivers.’
Speaking last night, Tony Miles told FISHINGmagic editor Graham Marsden that he was totally opposed to banning the closed season on rivers. ‘There is a bigger picture than the big rivers like the middle Severn. It’s the smaller streams where the damage will be done if the closed season on rivers were to be lifted.’ Tony said.
