A BRAND new free Environment Agency magazine packed with news and information on fishing – one of the country’s most popular outdoor sports – will soon be dropping on the doorsteps of a million anglers throughout England and Wales.

Between 17-20 April, all anglers who held a fishing licence during 1999 will receive a copy of Reel Life-packed full of informative, colourful articles about angling and the work of the Agency. It will also remind anglers that they need to renew their licence before the start of the new fishing season.

Environment Agency Head of Fisheries, Dave Clarke said: “This is a major new initiative to keep anglers informed of ever-changing developments in fisheries. We hope it will increase interest and participation in the sport, and be well received by all our licence holders.”

Rod licences expired on 31 March and the magazine includes incentives for anglers to buy their new licences early. Those buying their licence before 10 May will be eligible to subscribe to a range of leading coarse and game angling magazines at a reduced rate. They will also be entered into a draw with the chance to win a signed set of videos of the acclaimed TV series, ‘A Passion for Angling’.

Potential anglers can make use of a free one-day licence included in the magazine-if taken fishing by a full or concessionary licence-holder during National Fishing Week (19-28 August 2000). Information is also provided about a new ‘Beginners Licence’ for those who enrol on coaching schemes.
