Jay Allen, the Berkshire 18 year old who caught what is almost certainly going to be the new British record crucian carp from Yateley Fisheries two acre Summer Pit has had the scales checked that were used to weigh the historic catch.
RMC chief Ian Welch told Fishingmagic.com, ‘The scales used to weight the fish were officially checked by Weights and Measures and the report states that the scales weighed just 1oz heavy. The record, therefore, will be claimed at 4lb 8oz.’
It was rumoured that the fish was the same one caught by current record holder Adrian Eves at 4lb 5oz 8dr, but photographs have confirmed this to be untrue.
It is expected that the record will soon be broken again as anglers decend on Summer Pit for a crack at getting their names in the record books.
