Porth Reservoir, nr Newquay was the return venue for the 10 teams.

With improving weather condition and a little bit of colour in the water many of the anglers expected a decent days sport, and they were not disappointed with Porth for a second time.

For regular readers this is Match 5, not Match 3, but the winner and his final day weight were nearly exactly the same. Yes, local hot rod Clive Carter made it 3 wins in 5 Matches with a superb 22lb 4oz of skimmer and roach on the pole from peg 25. Again if you sit next to Clive you must feel its not going to be your day, but as in the previous matches at Whiteacres and Porth, second and third on the day came from the same section. Only 2oz separated 1st and 2nd with Brian Spry (Milo Blue) going head to head with Clive on peg 24. Not to be left out Gary Thornton (ALS Geers) secured 3rd spot from peg 23 with 19lb 2oz.

Top team on the day were Milo Oddballs with 34 points, second Cocks Tackle 28 with a tie for 3rd between Milo Blue and Tackle Trader Pink with 26 points. Milo taking the money on weight advantage.

Threemilestone Club’s Barry Gillan
Just when you thought it was safe to go out, I go and show you this mean looking fella. For those of you who don’t know him, or did not recognise his handsome poise, its Barry Gillan from the Threemilestone Club.

The reason for showing Barry is twofold. First I explained the personality behind the Gwinear League is fishing bookie Billy Knott, but behind every well known face is the guy who does all the work and Barry is that man. He works tirelessly to ensure the Gwinear League is a success. The second reason for showing this ‘ansome photo is to prove to all that Threemilestone Anglers are the prettiest of them all?

If you know another heartthrob angler let’s see them – the challenge is on.

Until next time keep it tight and tidy…Paul
