The Joint Governing Bodies of Angling (JAGB) have announced thatfrom February 1st they will be working with new partners lst4sportQualifications on a whole raft of new Angling Coachqualifications. lst4sport are part of the National CoachingFoundation and although only recently moving into the field ofcoaching qualifications are already the Awarding Body for prestigiousGoverning Bodies of sport such as the Football Association and theRugby League.
The JAGB are aiming for a number of new levels of Angling Coachfrom “Assistant” to “National” with a large degree of equivalencebetween Coarse, Sea and Game Angling coaches. The timetable forintroducing the first two qualifications on the structure is January1st 2002, a tight deadline says National Angling Development ManagerMick Owen.
“We are going to have to work fast and hard to complete thepaperwork in time for the National Qualifications Authority to beable to assess it in time for a January 2002 start. With lst4sport’ssupport and guidance we should make it though and angling will havetaken a positive step towards providing a comprehensive coachingstructure across all three disciplines.”
KAMASAN TO SUPPORT ENGLAND JUNIORS
The National Federation of Sea Anglers are pleased to announcethat Kamasan have agreed to support the NFSA Marinepool EnglandJunior Team which will hopefully give them the cutting edge duringthe forthcoming World Youth Championships to be staged on the smallisland of Porto Santo which lies to the northeast of Maderia.
Kamasan are not only offering product support in the way ofneedle-sharp quality hooks but are also giving the eight-strong teamsome financial backing which will help to fund the team’s allimportant practice sessions.
Chris Clark, the England Youth Team Manager said, “It is greatnews, not only can the team be assured of quality hooks but thefinancial support is critical if the team is to be successful in thedifficult waters associated with Porto Santo where practice sessionscould prove to be the key that unlocks some medals”.
The Team will also be supported by Sport England, the NFSA andMarinepool – Spirit of the Ocean.
