Grey Mist has really switched on this past week with membersenjoying a carp and tench bonanza. Mike Johnson had six carp, one9lbs and five upper doubles, the best being a mirror of 17.5lbs. Healso had tench of 4 and 5lbs. Jess Steel netted a mirror of 21.5lbsand Ian Davidson had two fish with the best at 17.5lbs. Rob Kenyonused whisky boilies to tempt two alcoholic carp of 17 and 19.5lbs.Damien Smith made his visit worthwhile with a mirror of 18.5lbs

The current closure restrictions on the Bridgewater Canal are fromActon Grange Bridge to Underbridge Lane, Walton (immediately West ofChester Road A56 Bridge) and Lymm Bridge to Seamons Moss Bridge.Members must realise that the foot & mouth situation is changingdaily and the above can obviously change. All closure notices must beobserved.

The canal has been on top form with Broadheath producing somecracking roach sport to hemp and caster. Nets of 10lbs reported withone angler catching ninety-eight fish in a hectic two-hour session.Dennis Brown fished chopped worm to be rewarded with a cracking perchof 2lbs.

Statham area has been producing mixed bags of roach, skimmers, andbream to 4lbs on red maggot and waggler. Junior member Lee Sherrat,aged 14 year fancied a spell of pike fishing and using a plug henetted fish of 18 and 20lbs. Lots of single figure fish and doublesat Broadheath Marina with one angler taking five pike in an hour. Anangler fishing for roach reported losing twenty fish off the hook tomarauding pike.

Tiny Woodshaw Reservoir has been popular this past week and mayhave suffered from all the extra attention as catches tailed off overlast weekend. Catches of roach, perch, and cruciens, plus odd tenchreported.

Acker Pit proved to be the right venue for junior match squadmember Matthew Richardson, who initially went to Grey Mist on Sundaybut could not get a peg. Legering meat he had bream to 2.5lbs.
