New SCC member Paul Sokell fished his first session on Temple since joining last Thursday and was rewarded with a brace of stunning Temple thirties.
Fishing 10 meters from a patch of lilies off swim 2, Paul initially tried a variety of natural baits before switching to an 18mm Icelandic Red boilie which he fished over a small bed of hemp and corn slightly away from the baited area. Landing both fish during the morning, Paul’s brace of mirrors weighed 31lb 2oz and 30lb 3oz and were both new thirties and personal best’s for Paul. Starting off on swim 13, Robert changed half way through his session switching to swim 10 where he was rewarded with a 31lb 15oz mirror. Rob fished a glugged BCUK boilie on a stiff Korda rig over free offerings. Contact Rob on 07946 739632 for further details. Paul Benefield also caught his first temple thirty of the year last week, a 30lb 1oz mirror, which he caught on a homemade boilie fished over a bed of pellet close to the island margins from peg 12. Following the recent flurry of catches, Temple has now produced 58 thirties this year whilst to get onto ‘Temple’s Top 100’ you now need a fish weighing over 27lb which gives an average weight of over 30lb. The Old Lake has also produced its fair share of big fish in the last week or so with a flurry of mid and upper twenties supporting plenty of big multi bag action. Leading the field was Andy Longfellow who caught a 26lb 10oz mirror from peg 14 on a single pellet last week. This was Andy’s first ever visit to Bury Hill and he was delighted with his new PB. Chris Jewell also caught a new PB in the shape of a 26lb 8oz mirror. Aged just 16, Chris fished peg 18 catching his fish on a soft fish flavoured boilie. Andrew Sibley also did well catching 2 twenties, a 25lb 8oz mirror and 20lb 8oz common from peg 74. Both fish fell to squid boilies fished tight to the back of the island. Gavin Cambell had a busy session bagging 11 fish to 24lb 12oz, fishing peg 6, Gavin caught on hair-rigged pellet, which he fished over a bed of 3mm pellet.
