What the publisher says –

For many anglers, chasing big carp is a sign of utter madness.

Whether you have had mild dose of carp fever or are suffering from a lifelong obsession with particle baits, one thing is for sure, this book may help you keep your sanity. A good old-fashioned cartoon book in the Thelwell mould!

Reviewer says –

Cliff Hatton is well know to many FM regulars for his witty and well written articles reflecting on either his earlier life or just pure fantasy situations. Perhaps few would know that Cliff is also a highly skilled mural painter and cartoonist. I have to say that I do, always, admire good cartoonists and often wish that I could develop such skills, but it is a gift, I believe.

Graham reviewed Cliff’s book first time around, but Cliff has kindly sent me a copy (signed as well) for my comments and because his two new books, All Fluff and Waders and All Wind and Water, will be published by Medlar press shortly.

I found it a very funny and very true to life read (although I belong very much to the old school in that if I go fishing it is to stay on the bank and not trot off to the pub). So much so that halfway through, I had to ring a friend of mine as he is one such person that may inadvertently fall into the trap of carp fishing. Perhaps I’ll let him view the copy to forewarn him of his impending downfall.

cliffport_367737108.jpgCliff takes an unusual view of an angler’s journey from pleasure fishing through buying all the paraphernalia for carping and then some before taking up ……. Well, best if buy the copy and see for yourself.

Not only do I admire a cartoonist’s talent I have to say I also lament the days when the weekly fishing papers ran these. One in particular springs to mind – ‘Chuckle with Chilvers’, who used to appear in the Angling Times (if memory serves me well) with some of the most hilarious cartoons ever. The facial expressions a good cartoonist can express with just a few swift lines from a pen is to be admired and I only wished the weeklies would return to publishing good cartoons.

For less than eight quid you can have this nice little collection of Cliff’s cartoons, but reserve your copies of his two new books and you’d get all three for less than £24. That’s great value when you consider they’re hard backed as well.

A thoroughly recommended read.
