ANCHOR TACKLE PEBBLES
In eight sizes from 1.5oz (45g) to 6oz (170g)
Price: From £ 0.90 to £ 1.25

Anchor Tackle set out to imitate pebbles with their new range of leger weights and there is no doubt that they achieved that aim. Anchor looked at the pebbles found around most gravel pits and set out to copy them for both shape and appearance. You have only to look at the photograph that was taken on the banks of the River Ribble to see how realistic they are.

They also built in the essential anti-roll properties and made them in three different shades which they called, Light Pebble, Orangey Pebble and Dark Pebble.

There are eight different shapes ranging from 1.5oz (45g) up to 6oz (170g) with each shape representing a different weight.

All the shapes have been biased to land on the flatter side so that the large bore steel eye runs at 90 degrees to the lake bed to ensure ideal presentation. The large bore eye is perfect for the angler using a running rig or a lead clip and creates less of a tangle zone around the weight.

The Pebbles have been designed to integrate with the lead ban that will occur sometime in the not too distant future. Anchor have started to prepare for non-toxic manufacturing and the Pebbles will be the first non-toxic weights they will produce.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

The shear density/size ratio of these Pebbles is the first thing that strikes you, making you realise just what an excellent material lead is for fishing weights and how sad that it is due to be banned altogether.

Good quality manufacturing is the second thing that hits you, for they certainly look good and resisted all my reasonable attempts to loosen the steel eye and scratch off the coating. I particularly liked the coarse, non glossy finish.

They’re ideal for the angler who wants the heaviest leger weights along with the smallest size and where those weights need to be as unobtrusive as possible.
