Keen specialist angler Will Smith moves into the Environment Agency funded role and will work in the Angling Trust Participation Team to attract more anglers into the sport and boost rod licence sales, having spent five years working in the Angling Trust membership department.
England Carp Team Manager and highly respected carp angler Rob Hughes will join the Trust’s Participation Team working to achieve Sport England’s aims of getting more people fishing more often.
Angling Trust Head of Participation, Clive Copeland, said: “Both Sport England and the Environment Agency fully understand the impact of quality marketing and communication for the furtherance and benefit of angling. They have invested in these posts to ensure that our sport gets the coverage and the promotion it deserves and to help address declining participation and licence sales.
“Having Will and Rob on board is a fantastic combination of significant marketing experience, enthusiasm and a complete understanding of what makes anglers tick.”
