The role, made possible by funding from the Environment Agency, will see John working closely with the EA to develop and coordinate the network of Regional Forums all over England.

The Trust report that John has a strong business background and a track record of enthusiastic project management and is a passionate all-round angler who is equally happy fishing for barbel on the Teme, hunting down big perch and pike with a lure rod or fly fishing for wild brown trout.

Commenting on his new role John said:

“For the Angling Trust and the Environment Agency to get things right on a national level we need to be informed and directed by grass roots anglers right around the country.

The Angling Trust Forums will give anglers the chance to get involved, make their feelings known and become an integral part of the process. I can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into the job of helping to empower fellow anglers and make sure they have a voice that will not only be heard, but that will be heeded by those in power.”
