Clare Percey was jailed yesterday for trying to sabotage the European Angling Championships on the river Trent at Nottingham.
First she broke the rod of Bernard Telen who fishes for Luxembourg and then leapt into the river to try and grab anglers’ lines.
And she was not very happy when police dragged her kicking screaming from the river. She managed to kick one of them in the chest as she was carted away and dumped in a cell.
Nottingham magistrates found her guilty of criminal damage and assault at an earlier hearing and then jailed her for 28 days yesterday.
Campaign Against Angling member Percey, from Tooting, south London, is to appeal against the jail sentence.

If it had been the same nutter who had caused so much chaos and damage, and assaulted a police officer at any other event they’d have got six months at least.
