A rumour has slipped into FISHINGmagic’s office that another 19lb barbel has been caught from the upper Great Ouse.
Or, to be more accurate, it is said that the same 19lb barbel that is currently waiting to be crowned as the new barbel record, has been caught again at 19lb 6oz.
The same rumour also claims that news of the fish is being kept very quiet.
Obviously, if the story is true, those who are trying to keep it quiet didn’t reckon on FM’s mole.
More details as we hear them.
UPDATE (Sunday, 16.30)
Latest info is that the captor is a mate of the same angler who caught the 19-pounder. It is said that three angling pals, all from Northampton, are continually fishing the swim between them “to keep the bait going in”.
UPDATE (Monday, 11.10)
The fish was caught, it is said, last Friday afternoon, 23rd February.
