It started with our columnist the Reverend Stewart Bloor inhis Pilgrim’s Progress with a broadside against the anti’s, and hefollowed up with another hard-hitting column against PETA, showingthem to be the liars they are with their biblical quotes andmisrepresentations.
An excellent article from writer and broadcaster MartinJames followed through with a plea for anglers to go on theoffensive. “Let’s never forget that they (PETA and PISCES) are verydangerous people,” said Martin.
And FISHINGmagic’s members in the Forum got on thecase, fired up by Goose Ganderton, and Carp Anglersuggested we have a repository for anti-angling information, facts, answers and tips which we can dip into in our fight against theanti’s.

John Conway:
Look at how your MP voted on the hunting bill, if he or she votedagainst it then it’s unlikely that he or she would vote for an antifishing bill, but if they voted for the ban then let’s ask them howthey stand with fishing.

John Huntley:
I have just received a copy of the Environmental Agency’smagazine Newscast for the Thames Region. This is a very good littlemagazine and is free – they also invite you to request additionalcopies. The current edition has articles on Youngsters fishing,Scouts fishing and the future of angling. I suggest all anglerscontact their local Environmental Agency (See their websites) andobtain copies for distribution to non anglers to show the worthwhileaspects of angling. We are very much in Partnership with the Agencyand we should work together to encourage angling and counter thearguments.
Also, parents should ask if their children if they’ve heard anyanti angling discussions at their school. My middle son has recentlyand I am about to raise the issue with the school. I don’t think antiangling is on the curriculum.

Goose Ganderton: “We need tobe putting our case across to Local and National government, theMedia and most importantly the Public. How do we do it? What is themost powerful tool we have? You’re staring at it. We can use thepower of the Internet.”
Paul Williams: “We need ideason how to get these images of the real anti’s into mainstream media,we can go on all we like in the angling media but it is not reachingthe people we need to convince.”
