The fishing challenge – which is part of Groundwork Ashfield and Mansfield’s JUMP project has been run successfully in Nottinghamshire for the last 12 months with groups of young people aged 14-16.
Rods, reels, floats, umbrellas, waterproofs or wellies are all wanted to recycle into the project and give the young people the necessary tools to carry on the project.
JUMP project co-ordinator, Lesley Flanders said: “These youngster love fishing and they have managed to develop a project which puts their new skills into use by teaching others how to fish.”
“We are in need of old, unused or slightly damaged fishing gear to help us move the project forward. If anyone receives any new equipment for Christmas we would be delighted to take their old stuff.”
JUMP is a life skills programme focused on working with young people aged 14-17 who have been excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education, across Ashfield and Mansfield.
