We spoke to local club match anglers to find out what flavours and products they wanted from a range of bait designed specifically for match fishing. We discussed what type and flavour of match baits that ‘experts’ such as Mark Sawyer, Dave Coster, Jon Arthur and Dave Harrell would suggest would catch the most?
We were told that fisherman like to see the quality of the bait before they buy, so all our product is packed in transparent, re sealable pots (so you can keep any bait left for next time).
They are all foil sealed for freshness.
Risers
Foil packed for freshness
Baits that are sold in bags are sometimes squashed or crushed if they have been stored under other bags. Every one of our products are in pots so the bait is undamaged when its gets to you, and you can see it’s perfect.
We put all this information together and came up with the Bag’em Matchbaits range. We genuinely believe that we are different because we have listened to the angler.
We also have a completely new invention called the ‘Riser’.
Risers
Full of flavour
Risers Risers are 6mm expanders that have been treated with a secret process to produce a heavy bait that sinks readily. It takes an undetermined amount of time, maybe from 10 minutes to an hour or more for some of the pellets to gain buoyancy, and then slowly begin rising to mid water then to the surface. The fish think that larvae are hatching and it sends them into a feeding frenzy. Simply adjust the depth of your rig to find out where the fish are feeding.
Strawberry Oily Hookers
Halibut Oily Hookers
Oily Hookers Oily Hookers sink. Oily Hookers are sinking pellets that ooze attractors which slowly leak off, tempting fish to bite. They do not fall to pieces and can take a bashing from small fish until a better one comes along. They are suitable for waggler, pole and legering.
Smoothskin Pellets Our Smoothskin 6mm pellets have been designed to be trouble free and very effective. These baits do not fall off the hook but neither are they too hard to strike through. These pellets just sink with the weight of a small hook offering the fish a neutral density bait they cannot resist. Any fish moving anywhere near your properly presented hookbait will gently move the rig, lifting your hookbait. They will then grab it – good as guaranteed.
Mini Boilies
Mini Boilies These are made with speed-fishing in mind. They are large enough to see what you are doing with them, tough enough to withstand the attentions of nuisance species and attractive enough to carp, barbel, tench, chub and bream to keep you busy. We recommend you fish Mini Boilies on a small hair rig with a size 14 to 8 wide-gape hook to get the best results. Make sure the boilie doesn’t mask the hook point when mounting it on the hair.
Pole Paste
Pole Paste The pole angler needs a paste that will dissolve quite quickly – our pole paste does exactly that! We suggest that you use a decent clump of Pole Paste on your hook so it helps to cock your float at the correct level. If the paste is whittled away by small fish your float will rise slightly letting you know to re-bait.
Waggler and Feeder Paste
Nice and firm
Waggler and Feeder Paste The Waggler and Feeder Paste is a slower dissolving bait that is a touch tougher and easier to use. Every paste has gone through a rigorous trial period so we know it’s top quality – soft enough to strike through yet firm enough to cast.
Hookbait Sweetcorn
Bright – they won’t miss these!
Hookbait Sweetcorn The best sweetcorn you have ever seen – great colours, great flavours and great full-grain kernels in re-sealable pots. Fantastic bait for summer or winter.
Cooked Hemp Superb cooked hempseed with that just-cooked fragrance specially prepared for match fisherman! See what you are getting for your money in our ultra-clear containers. Every tub of Cooked Hemp is re-sealable so you don’t have to throw away unused bait. It will stay fresh for several weeks without freezing.
Hard Feeders These hard feed pellets are the finest you’ll ever use with vibrant colours and excellent flavours. Having low oil content our pellets are suitable for use all year round. Try adding Hard Feeders to groundbait or feed them on a little and often basis with a catapult or pole cup. They are packed in tough reusable containers.
Moist Feeder Pellets Bag’em Matchbaits have made a pellet that works brilliantly. The moisture content has to be exactly right to get a perfect pellet, and these have it! Moist Feeder Pellets can be easily squeezed into balls for feeding but will quickly disperse a few moments after hitting the lake bed. Try wrapping them around a Method feeder or baggin’ waggler, plugging an open-end feeder or simply scatter feed them by hand, cup or catapult.
Groundbait
Loaded with quality ingredients
Groundbait Our Method Mix contains lots of crushed halibut pellets combined with a little crumb, specially selected crushed seeds plus several added attractors that have been specially developed for match fishing. One of these is keramine – a super high protein, amino-rich compound from the animal world. The Balling In groundbait creates a cloud that releases fish attractors and feed stimuli into the swim quickly. The fish will sense the attractors but won’t be able to find anything other than your hook bait to eat! Our special ingredients ensure you have the best chance of getting fish aggressively feeding in your swim.
Flavoured Dyes Our dyes are very intense and only a small quantity is needed to colour groundbait, particles or hookbaits. Uniquely, they have all been treated with our special blend of flavours to give you that edge. An inexpensive and invaluable aid to catching fish. Full instructions on how to use them are found on the side of each bottle.
Natural Attractors On certain days fish can be so cunning that we have to pull out every stop to stand any chance of getting a bite. Bag’em Matchbaits Natural Attractors have proved their worth time and time again because we like to offer a better product with that extra bit of thought behind it. Being natural, you cannot over-use these products but each bottle will treat at least five kilos of groundbait, particles and/or pellets.
Verdict
You can tell that a lot of thought has gone into these products and the quality and freshness are obvious.
I haven’t tried all Bag’em’s products yet but I have tried enough of them to know that they definitely catch fish, and more fish than some other baits that were being fished alongside mine.
I’m looking forward to trying the others when the weather gets warmer and fish are more inclined to feed; then, with more bites to enjoy, it’ll be much easier to test one bait against another.
