Grand Masters National championship run by the BDAA is set to break attendance records this year, the event in 2003 attracted 350 contestants from all over the country paying out over £ 2800 in cash prizes, the highest disability event payouts recorded by any organisation.

BDAA prides itself on developing performance pathways from introduction to elite status with guidance from the English Federation of Disability Sport the governing body of disability sports in England, equity, access and fairness along with recognition for performers has seen angling for those with disabilities improve since the BDAA introduced its disability angling policies.

Top rod last year Martin Kershaw from Rochdale was voted top sports performer by his home town as a result of him winning the Grand Masters and his other angling achievements, proving that angling is being recognised as a mainstream contender in sport.
