Why Grand Masters?
The answer is easy we can guarantee minimum cash prizes payout on the final totalling £ 1,000 hence the appropriate title BDAA Grand Masters.
Who can enter?
Only persons with disabilities can enter the competition. Proof of disability is required with your application form these can be any one of the following:-
Photocopy of Disability benefits book (your payment amount should not be disclosed) Photocopy of E.A Disabled rod licence.
Letter from a doctor confirming disability
If non-of the above is applicable, write to the BDAA with your explanation, acceptance is at the discretion of competition’s committee.
How does it work?
Eight first round contests at fisheries around England taking 10 qualifiers from each round 80 anglers total.
Two semi final contests one Northern & one Southern, these have been arranged to ensure “inclusive” opportunities are open to all. 40 anglers total from the combined semi finals will go through to the Grand Master’s final. This will be fished in September at Woodlands View fishery Worcestershire to find the BDAA Grand Master and secure the title.
Monitored
All matches will be adjudicated and marshals present.
Weight cards will be given to each contestant displaying peg number, weight and signature of contestant
Cost?
Research has shown that in order to help “All” we have had to make radical changes in the way we run this event.
A one off registration fee of £ 10 allows you to fish all eight first round contests subject to peg availability.
Peg fees are set at £ 5 per match and are additional to the registration fee, regardless of the actual cost paid by the BDAA to fishery owners. Any discounted peg fees agreed between the fishery & BDAA will help offset any incurred charges to the charity.
The cash pools are optional on first rounds only these are set at:
£ 5 per first round contests
£ 10 Semi & Final. (compulsory)

First round: Cheshire (Border Fishery) – Staffordshire (Stoke Club Waters at Stafford), Surrey (Willinghurst Fishery) – Cambridgeshire (Lawn Farm)- Gloucestershire (Leamington Lakes) Worcestershire (Woodlands View Fishery) – Leicestershire (Holly Farm) – Co.Durham (Eden Meadow).
Semi Finals:
Northern Cheshire (Border Fishery) – Southern Warwickshire (Stockton Reservoir)
Finals:
Worcestershire (Woodlands View Fishery)
Access
Inspections have been carried out on all fisheries to offer the best possible in access. Getting to your peg is the anglers responsibility & not the BDAA, please ensure you have made your own arrangements.
Payouts
The BDAA have researched fairness in the sport of disability angling competitions, after months of planning the competitions committee believe we have succeeded in bringing equality to the world of disability angling in this country with the introduction of the new payout system.
First Round
Only sections will be paid out, for example 30 anglers fishing paying £ 5 pools will have 5 sections paying equal £ 30 section prizes, (section prizes will be reduced where less anglers pay into pools). In addition the overall winner receives a trophy for each match presented on the day. Top 10 anglers from each first round match go through to the Semi final on weight, making a total of 80 from the first rounds.
Semi Finals
Only sections will be paid out, for example 40 anglers fishing paying £ 10 pools will have 8 sections paying equal £ 50 section prizes (section prizes will be reduced where less anglers pay into pools) . In addition the overall winner receives a trophy for each match.Top 20 anglers from each semi final will go through to the final on weight, making a total of 40 anglers in the final .
Final
The most radical move in equality is the payout for the final, BDAA believe that more anglers should be rewarded for their achievements for this reason we have implemented the following:
Only one winner will become the BDAA National Grand Master Champion he/she will receive a cash lump sum prize, National Title and Trophy.
There are no second or third places; instead the remainder of the cash prizes will be divided equally into eight section prizes.
This format ensures that more people than any other organised event has a chance of both qualifying and collecting equal prize monies.
How do I Enter?
The competition is open to disabled BDAA members, if you are not currently a member you can apply for FREE membership, this can be done by completing the application form for the competition which will give you automatic membership or download a printed version from our web site Alternatively the designated fisheries will have application forms available for collection.
The form will give you details of the matches and dates; you must select ONE fishery initially, preferably the closest to your home location. After April 30th selection deadline you may check availability on all seven of your other remaining first round matches, simply by calling Andy Brown on the BDAA competition line 01285 740771.
Please note that there are only 30 available pegs on each of the eight first round matches so a first come first served basis will be applied, so don’t delay post the form today to avoid disappointment. Should the chosen match be fully booked you will be notified by telephone or email.
Details of all matches, directions etc will be forward to you on receipt & acceptance of your registration fee.
