Sheffield specialist Mick Lomas, 55, who has targeted Trent barbel for the past five years, has taken the river’s best barbel at 14lb 2oz. He fished swimfeeder tactics, using trout pellet over hemp, on the middle reaches of the tidal area.
Elsewhere, Milton Keynes Gt Ouse regular Adrian Busby legered sweetcorn on a 10 hook to 8lb line to net a barbel of 14lb 12oz from the river ‘not at regular hot-spot Adam’s Mill.’
