Adrian Eves has been enjoying some excellent results on the River Kennet this winter and after taking a break for a short while as the river settled after a cold snap and lots of rain Adrian returned to target the chub and tells the story here in his own words:
“After a spell away from the Kennet when it was running high and very cold I returned when conditions looked to be a bit more favourable and hit a nice run of form, snaring several great chub over the Christmas period, topped by a new PB.
The fishing was superb and the biggest fish was in fact the first one I caught and it just pipped my previous PB, weighing in at 6lb 15oz – what a start!
I returned a few days later when the river was absolutely perfect and the fish were really having it. During the course of my session I landed five chub of: 3lb 8oz, 4lb 10oz, 5lb 8oz, 5lb 10oz and another cracker at 6lb 8oz.
All the fish came on a small Dynamite Baits’ white chocolate & coconut boilie fished on my favourite chub hook, the size 10 Kuro S3, tied to a Coretex hooklink. I enhanced the attraction by wrapping a paste I had made from the same boilies around a 1.5oz Paste Bomb.”
