J & K Tackle’s Dave Green opted for the heavy approach to tempt this cracking crucian of 3lb 14oz from the Summer Pit at Nutrabaits Yateley.
Despite the usual advice to fish fine and in the margins Dave piled in 3kg of Nutrabaits’ Trigga Pellets and a gallon of dead maggots then fished a running lead with a Trigga hookbait pellet over the top to take the fish.
The best crucian result, however, went to Guildford’s Adrian Smith who joined in the new ‘pile it in and pray’ approach to crucian fishing and picked up this marvellous brace of 4lb specimens that weighed in at 4lb 2oz and 4lb 4oz – thought to be the largest brace of true crucian carp ever captured.
Adrian also banked a specimen of 4lb 1oz in a separate session for an incredible hat-trick of specimen crucians.
Like Dave, Adrian opted for the heavy baiting approach and filled in a swim with Trigga pellets, hemp and groundbait before floatfishing Trigga paste over the top on a size 10 hook to 4lb line.
